About the Market
After three seasons, we transferred the ownership and management of the Orleans Winter Farmers’ Market to the Orleans Farmers’ Market, Inc. in May 2017. We had co-managed the Market with the Orleans Farmers' Market during the 2016-2017 winter season. Together, we decided the Orleans Farmers’ Market would take on the ownership and management of the Market. The Orleans Farmers’ Market will now be a year-round market.
We established the Orleans Winter Farmers' in 2014 as an economic development initiative to provide access to locally grown produce and agricultural products, while raising the visibility and availability of local agriculture on the Lower Cape. Over its three seasons, the Market served 58 vendors and generated over $128,500 in sales. Hundreds of consumers purchased produce and locally made products, like—tomatoes, scallions, leafy greens, potatoes, beef, juices, jams & jellies, soap, eggs, cheese, pasta, honey, bread, chocolate, baked goods, coffee, poultry and pork.
We’d like to share our deep appreciation to some significant supporters for making the Orleans Winter Farmers’ Market possible. Thank you to Cape Cod Healthcare for demonstrating your commitment to the health of our community through your title sponsorship of the Market. Thank you to the USDA Farmers Market Promotion Program for investing in the growth of local growers and food producers. And thank you Nauset Regional Middle School for sharing your space and providing a comfortable community setting for the Market. And thank you to all the customers who patoronized the Market.
