Christy Donovan was born and raised in Rockville, MD, a suburb of Washington, DC. She graduated from James Madison University with a BA in History in 1996. After receiving her degree, she spent several years working in retail management in Northern Virginia, Oregon, and Maryland. Although she loved the day-to-day challenges of running a store, she was ready for a career change, and in 2000 she joined the Office of Rental Assistance and Home Energy Programs in Montgomery County, MD as a case manager. In this position, she worked with renters and homeowners to help them qualify for grants to lower their monthly rental, heating, and electric bills. She also helped to coordinate the community outreach for the programs, and she took the lead on training all new employees in her unit. When the opportunity came to move to the Cape (where her husband grew up), she seized it!
Since moving to Chatham in 2007, Christy has spent most of her time raising her 2 young daughters while working part time as a Realtor and editor and actively participating in Toastmasters – a public speaking and leadership development organization. Ready for her next challenge, Christy joined the CDP in October 2016 as the Housing Rehab Program Coordinator. She is excited to use her customer service skills and financial assistance program background to help our local homeowners receive the funding they need to improve their homes.
